I just have to say thank you to BU coach Parker for not taking the Bruin's job.
I hate what his Terriers did to my UNH Wildcats this past year, but as Greg
Ambrose so aptly pointed out, Jack Parker really is God's gift to college
hockey.  He has raised the status and caliber of the game to the point wheher he
can now claim to be its de facto standard bearer (assuming he wanted to).  He
has a great thing going at BU and to throw that away for a contract for
(reportedly) 4 years and two million dollars would really be shooting himself in
the foot.  The only reason Harry Sinden wanted him was because an entry level
NHL coach cannot possibly make the same contract demands as an experienced
coach.  The increased travel demands, longer season and increased media scrutiny
are all minuses.  Finally working for Harry
(I-never-make-any-crazy-personnel-deals-like-giving-away-Adam-Oates-and-Bill-Ranf
ord-and-Rick-Tocchet) Sinden and realizing that he would have significantly less
control over the team in the pros than he does now at BU cinches it.   It's not
as if there is no experienced coaching talent out there.  Pat Burns or Jacques
Demers would be excellent choices but Harry the Skinflint is going to have to
part with some bucks to get them.  Given the ticket prices at the Fleet Center,
the fans deserve no less.
