I've received some private e-mail (not bad or mean; just not to the whole group
(-:) that indicates I need to clarify a bit about what confuses me about this. I do
understand the reasoning behind the name change from the Redskins. What I assumed was
that it would be clear that the name Redhawks refered to birds, since I'm not aware of
any Redhawk American Indian tribes. The article that I got the information from states
that the name came from a type of bird that is/was common in the area. What confused me
was why they would change the name to Redhawks (after a bird) and still use the indian
head logo. Any clues?
