TEXT/PLAIN (45 lines)
Just returned from Milwaukee--in time to catch the Edmonton/Phoenix late
game on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. To my pleasant surprise, host Ron
McLean opened the first intermission with highlights of the Championship
game from the Bradley, noting that the Champion UND Fighting Sioux has 13
Canadians on the roster.

The highlights of the Championship game were followed by comments from
McLean regarding the 1997 Hobey Baker award--complete with Brendan
Morrison highlights and a full 2-3 minute live interview with Brendan
himself. McLean asked Brendan about his years playing for Penticton (sp?)
and about his experiences playing for Michigan. He also asked about
Brendan's future with the New Jersey Devils, and Brendan answered that he
was expecting to talk with the Devils within the next few days.

McLean noted that Brendan was a significant factor in the Devils' recent
trades--with the Devils knowing that Brendan will be wearing their
uniform in the near future. It was very obvious that McLean was very
pleased with the performance of all of the Canadians in the Frozen Four.

FWIW-Brendan's Hobey speech included the comment that "the best team
doesn't always win," which got quite a reaction from the crowd.
Interestingly enough, Brendan was not the first person to utter that
phrase during Championship week. Friday's Ann Arbor News (printed well
before the Hobey was presented) quotes a comment made last Wednesday from
BU coach Jack Parker: "The best team doesn't always win the championship.
It's the team that plays the best two games."

Congrat's to BU for playing exactly the way they needed to on Thursday,
they were indeed the better team on that day. Congrat's also to the
National Champions, the Fighting Sioux, what a great game!

From the Top Row,
Roger
