ANOTHER OFFICIAL SAYS MAINE AD TRIED TO HIDE ELIGIBILITY PROBLEMS
Allegations of an effort to conceal NCAA violations in the University of Maine
hockey program have resurfaced as a second official has claimed athletic
director Mike Ploszek planned to conceal elgibility problems.
Anne R. McCoy, associate director of athletics, contradicts report by Stanley
Tupper, a former Maine congressman, that found no evidence of a cover-up by
university officials.
McCoy told the Portland Press Herald that Ploszek informed her of Maine's
eligibility problems and then said he would "feign ignorance" if they became
public.
"I flat out did not say that," Ploszek responded.
McCoy, a member of Maine's NCAA compliance committee, said she plans to tell
her story when a member of the NCAA enforcement staff visits next month.
