Wayne, I have to disagree. The news-flash scores are much appreciated
by some of us who have time neither to read long analytical/
descriptive game postings nor to watch a replay of the game later.
I really appreciate knowing who won, well in advance of my
first opportunity to turn on Headline News (which is usually at
9 p.m., after we get all the kids tucked in bed!). The blank
screens are an effective spoiler-guard. Most electronic
lists and conferences have a certain percentage of dross. I'm
sympathetic about cluttered mailboxes but I wouldn't want to
miss these up-to-the-minute Olympics scoreboards.
