As much as there is debate over how college hockey is received by the media
and the general public in Colorado... it is likely (reliable source in DU
athletics dept...sorry, can't go public with a name) there will be a bid by
either Denver, Colorado College, or the two combined to host a regional event,
starting with a WCHA Final Five in the not-so-distant future once the Pepsi
Center is up and running (as far as Denver is concerned), and as a potential
tuneup for an NCAA-host bid (regional or national). Judging from past Western
efforts, it's easy to poo-poo that something like a regional tournament could
work financially out here in the Rockies. I don't think that's going to stop
the Front Range folks from giving it a shot...all the power to them.
