CCHA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darrin Madeley, a junior goaltender from Lake
Superior State University, has been selected CCHA Player of the Week for the
week ending December 7, 1991.
Madeley, a 5-11, 165-pound native of Holland Landing, Ontario, allowed just
two goals in the Lakers home sweep of Michigan. In Friday's 3-2 overtime win,
Madeley stopped 26 of 28 shots. In Saturday's 10-0 Laker victory, he turned
aside all 26 Wolverine shots to record the shutout. For the weekend, he made
52 saves in 54 shots for a .963 saves percentage. On the year, he is now
9-2-0 with a 1.52 goals against average and a .935 saves percentage.

the week three times. Last season, he was a first-team all-american.

NOTES
82 current CCHA players drafted: As of December 6th, 82 current CCHA players
have been drafted by National Hockey League clubs. Michigan leads the way
with 17, followed by Michigan State with 14 and Lake Superior with 12. There
are 47 current CCHA players eligible for the 1992 supplemental draft led by 12
from Ohio State. Also over the next three drafts (1992-93-94) a total of 45
current CCHA players will be eligible for the entry drafts.
Felsner's point-streak comes to an abrupt end: University of Michigan
senior forward Denny Felsner was the only CCHA player to have a point in every
game this season until Saturday night. In fact, there have been just two
games that he has been held to a single point (11/2 at Western Michigan and
11/22 vs. UIC) before Michigan was blanked 10-0 at Lake Superior.
Madeley stands tall in Laker net: LSSU junior goaltender Darrin Madeley has
appeared in 13 games with a 9-2-0 record with a 1.52 gaa and a .935 saves
percentage. He has allowed more than one goal in a game on only four
occasions this year (two at Ferris State on 10/26, four at Northern Michigan
on 11/7, two at UIC on 11/29 and two vs. Michigan on 12/6). The most saves he
has had in a game is 30 in an overtime win at Ferris State (3-2 on 10/26).
Western's Jones on nine-game point streak: Bronco senior Keith Jones currently
has a nine-game point streak in which he has scored eight goals and added 15
assists for 23 points.
Buckeyes not fond of Munn Arena: Ohio State lost twice at Michigan State last
weekend, and now are 0-23-1 in their last 24 games at MSU's Munn Arena.
Close but not quite: Four of Ferris State's six losses have come either by
one goal or by one goal plus an empty-net goal.
Bylsma records rare shorthanded goal: Bowling Green senior Dan Bylsma scored
a 3-on-5 shorthanded goal in Friday's 5-4 win at Western Michigan. His goal
proved to be the game-winner. Checking records back to 1981-82, no Falcon had
scored a 3-on-5 man-down marker.
Hillebrandt stars in Flame sweep: University of Illinois at Chicago freshman
netminder Jon Hillebrandt stopped 68 of 73 Miami shots for a .932 saves
percentage as the Flames swept the Redskins. Hillebrandt stopped 39 of 40
shots in Friday's 2-1 UIC win, and followed that with 29 saves in Saturday's
5-4 overtime victory.
MSU's Messier finds scoring touch: Through his first three seasons (127
games) Michigan State blueliner Joby Messier had scored eight goals, including
two power play markers. This season in seven games, Messier has scored seven
goals including one power play and one shorthanded tally.
