This is regarding the Minnesota pride about their home town team.
It is great that MN can have locals on their team, but although
this I'm sure doesn't encompass all the fans, some of them are
very arrogant and vocal and rude about this fact.
Michigan Tech is located in a desolate 1800's industrial graveyard,
and yet we have a couple of excellent players from here (Pat Mikesh,
Hancock, MI). I believe his presence on the team has increased
the attendance at the games. But, our source is pretty dry, unlike
Minnesota. We have Canadians, Finns, and some other nationalities
represented, and we do not feel guilty about that, although there
were many flames to our team (check old hockey-l archives about a year
ago when the Gophers came to town).
Anyway, we'll be entertaining the Gophers this weekend.
Au Canada!!!!
