A question came up regarding Harvard's tournament appearances. From a post by
Matt Glaccum in April 1994:
Harvard's appearances: 16 tournaments
12 Final Fours
3 finals appearances
1 NCAA title
Longest streak of consecutive NCAA tournaments: 5
Year Final position
____ ______________
1955 3rd
1957 4th
1958 4th
1969 3rd
1971 4th
1974 4th
1975 4th
1982 made quarterfinals
1983 2nd
1985 made quarterfinals
1986 2nd
1987 4th
1988 made 1st round
1989 1st
1993 made 1st round
1994 made semifinals
The longest streak of consecutive NCAA appearances is shared by Michigan and
Minnesota, both with 10. Michigan's run was from 1948-57. Minnesota's is
current, dating back to 1985. Thus, the Gophers can break Michigan's record
this year (though Michigan's invitations came when the tournament was only 4
teams). Other current streaks going belong to Wisconsin and Lake Superior
State, both of whom have appeared in the NCAA tournament the past 7 seasons.
The next longest current streaks belong to Boston University with 5 straight
appearances and Michigan with 4.

Michigan State University 15-7-3, 20-10-3 (riding a 1-year streak)
WVU '87, UTenn '92, MSU (though we had a nine-year streak from 1982 to 1990) whothe hell knows when?
