I'm posting this to both lists - sorry for any duplicates.

Excerpted from the Dayton Daily News:

18 names were selected from more than 700 suggested to replace
"Redskins" as the Miami nickname. The names were released to
the Dayton Daily News on Tuesday. University spokesman Richard
Little said some of the nicknames were tested on focus groups
consisting of Miami students, alumni, and employees, and a shorter
list of three or four suggestions was forwarded to Miami President
James Garland. Little declined to release that "short list."

Pretty lame list, if you ask me.
