12-21-97 Humanitarian Nominees Announced
 
14 nomineess for the annual Hockey Humanitarian Award have been announced.
The list includes: Vanessa Anne Reid of Brown, Ryan Stewart of Canisius,
William Baaki of Colgate, Erin Marie Schmalz of Cornell, Jeremiah Buckley of
Dartmouth, Timothy Alan McDonald of Gustavus Adolphus, Tyler Harlton of
Michigan State, Corey Borys of St. Norbert, STEVE KARIYA of MAINE, Don
Farris of Michigan-Dearborn, Casey Hankinson of Minnesota, Mark Mowers of
New Hampshire, Steve Noble of Notre Dame, and Erik Raygor of Wisconsin.
 
The Humanitarian is given annually to college hockey's finest citizen, as
voted on by a committee of voters chosen by the Hockey Humanitarian
Organization, based in Boston, Mass. Past winners include Boston University
goaltender J.P. McKersie and Michigan defenseman Blake Sloan. The award is
open to any player at the Division I, II, or III level, or from women's
hockey. This year's award will be presented on April 3rd, 1998 at the NCAA
Championship Weekend in Boston, Mass.
