(Jamie wrote from the perspective of Maine Women's Hockey team).

Thanks for your recent ME-HOCKEY post!

To see the success that Women's Basketball has had in bringing in the
fans should give you some hope, but an awful lot has to come together.

IMHO, the people won't come until the media report your games and the
media won't report your games until (at least) you (finally) get varsity
status. But even then, there would be lots more to do, for while B-Ball
is big in Maine secondary schools, hockey is not ... especially for
women.

Finally, I don't have a clue how to get students to be fans ... not for
men's hockey nor basketball, let alone women's club hockey.

Maybe one of those 20 fans or you or one of your coaches could write game
reports and previews for upcoming games on ME-HOCKEY (and HOCKEY-L)?

Knowing about the team and knowing about the upcoming game *can*
be a big help in people wanting to observe. And next game's fan
might be this game's observer.

cheers,
wayne
