The design and implementation of the programs and procedures are
supposedly in place. IMHO, if NCAA probation is significant to one
complance officer remaining for 3 *years*, then Maine has not learned a
thing through all the mess we've seen. And I don't think that is
the case.

Is any department at U Maine "well-funded"? None that I know.

Was Tammy perceived as doing very well? Yes.

If she left a year or two ago, would that have been bad timing? Yes,
because she was the relatively experienced and dedicated person with a
major influence on the design and implementation as well as execution of
the policies and procedures. To me it's a great credit to TLight that
she stuck with it through a long dismal time when by many accounts she
was overworked and though everyone I know respected the job she was
doing, the department didn't necessarily recognize her with $ and title,
at least in a timly fashion. I may be all wet here (someone who knows,
please chip in!), but "acting" was in here title for a *long* time.

>It would be nice to keep Tammy where she is and let Providence wait.

Three years!? If Maine is doing business *because* of the probation,
we're still in trouble. If that's true, *they're* still in trouble
and I don't want to be associated with "them". I hope and trust
that's not the case.

I know nothing about the new job, but one might guess that with PCs
smaller student body, big-time basketball and decent location, Tammy
will probably find the new job substantially more rewarding.

No doubt we will miss her dedication to the students. But as with
the retirement of Pres. Fred, I don't think *anything* stinks.

cheers,
wayne
