Thought I would add some eye-witness perspective to the two games this
weekend.
(If you ever get a chance to go see the Schottenstein Center, it is a
beautiful facility, even when the lights go off in the middle of the game)
On Friday night, I thought that the Bears looked a little slugglish. They
took a few dumb penalties. I also thought that Yeats gave up too many big
rebounds. The team speed just did not seem to be there on Friday. I only saw
the last two periods (thanks to that darn Cleveland traffic) but saw the
fantastic game winner by Larose and not too much else. Maine looked solid on
defense, but did not really shut OSU down.
Sunday was a different story. The Bears came out flying in the first period
and looked like a completely different team. Morrison controlled the
rebounds and they did not take any dumb penalties. The only thing that kept
it close was the OSU goal. The score after one period could have been 5-0,
if not for Aho's efforts. He stoned Barrett Heistein twice from in close,
when Barrett was wide open standing all alone on the goalie's left side
(right in front of my 3rd row seats behind the net), and all Barrett had to
do was roof the puck. Some how Aho grab both of them, much to Barrett's
surprise I think.
Overall, I was really impressed by Larose, Ek, Janik, Morrison, and Guite
I don't think Chris Heistein played on Sunday, I think Reimann took his
spot. Was he a healthy scratch?

I want to extend my thanks to all of the people who do such a great job of
keeping the M.I.E. (Mainers In Exile) posted on all of the ins and outs of
our favorite team. I had the chance to drive to Columbus (from my exile in
Rochester, NY) this weekend and thought that I would repay all of your
efforts by giving my thoughts on the game.

Andy Seguin, M.I.E.

P.S. An OSU fan was giving me a hard time during the Friday game..... I
found that the response that got him to shut up the quickest was
"When you guys (OSU) can beat Michigan (in football) more times in a
decade than we (Maine) win hockey championships, then we can talk"
