Here is some news that might bode well for keeping Heisten and Janik
for one more year:

SABRES INK THREE YOUNG PLAYERS TO MULTI-YEAR DEALS

(AP) - The Buffalo Sabres signed goaltender Mika Noronen and
wings David Moravec and Jaroslav Kristek to multi-year contracts
on Monday. Noronen, 20, was Buffalo's first-round pick, the 21st
overall, in the 1997 draft. He spent last season playing in
Finland and represented the country in the World Junior
championships. The 19-year-old Kristek was the Sabres'
second-round pick in 1998. The Czech Republic native recorded 86
points in 70 games with the Tri-City Americans of the Western
Hockey League last season. Moravec, 26, racked up 43 points in 50
games with Vitkovice of the Czech Republic League a season ago.
He was Buffalo's eighth-round pick in 1998.
