BG comes from behind again and beats Yale, 5-3, in the Face-off. BG
finishes the tourney at 2-1 and Yale at 0-3. Other CCHA scores from
Saturday:
MSU & FSU tied at 2, as already reported
Kent beat Mercyhurst 6-5
Miami whomped on OSU, 7-1
Michigan beat Notre Dame 5-1 in the first-ever hockey game at The
Palace of Auburn Hills.
And LSSU beat Toronto 3-1 in the Duracell Challenge (both LSSU games
are exhibitions, btw).
In the BG-Yale game, the Elis took a 2-0 lead in the first period with
goals by Nyberg and Meltby. But the Falcon freshmen forwards would lead
the comeback with 4 straight goals. Hall netted his first of the season
and Jason Clark his second, to tie it up after two. Helbing put BG
ahead with a shorthander and Lindsay stretched the lead to 2. Yale's
Kaufman scored a PPG with 90 seconds left in regulation, but Holzinger
hit the empty net to make it a 5-3 final.
Mike Kamotovic made his first start of the season for Yale and stopped
38. Aaron Ellis got the win and made 24 saves. The power plays were
something like 0/3 for BG and 1/5 for Yale.
