Unofficial, of course ... (each team entry lists (1) team, (2) HEA
points through last weekend, (3) games to play, (4) tiebreaker info and
other comments) ...
UNH - 38 pts - to play home & home w/BC - clinched regular season 1st place.
* Best finish - 1
* Worst finish - 1
BU - 34 pts - to play 1 game only w/NU - clinched home ice - gives up
tiebreaker to BC.
* Best finish - 2
* Worst finish - 3
BC - 33 pts - to play home & home w/UNH - clinched home ice - wins
tiebreakers w/BU & ME; gives up tiebreaker to Mass; VT cannot catch BC.
* Best finish - 2
* Worst finish - 4
ME - 29 pts - to play 2 games at Mass - wins tiebreaker w/VT; gives up
tiebreaker with BC; Mass tiebreaker not yet determined (ME leads
head-to-head w/Mass w/2 pts to none).
* Best finish - 4
* Worst finish - 6
Mass - 29 pts - to play 2 games vs ME - wins tiebreaker w/BC; gives up
tiebreaker w/VT; ME tiebreaker not yet determined (Mass trails
head-to-head w/ME w/no pts to 2).
VT - 28 pts - to play 2 games w/UML - wins tiebreaker w/Mass; gives up
tiebreaker w/ME.
* Best finish - 4
* Worst finish - 6
ME/Mass/VT comments:
* ME holds home ice fate in own hands, with a 4th place finish
guaranteed with a 3-pt weekend.
* If the ME/MASS series ties 1-1-0 or 0-0-2, total points will be
tied at 31, but ME wins the tiebreaker with its extra H2H win.
* However, things get interesting with one of these results *and* VT
picks up exactly 3 pts w/UML. Then we'd have a 3-way tie for 4th
place at 31 points. As we've seen above, ME wins the tiebreaker
w/Mass, ME wins the tiebreaker w/VT, and Mass wins the tiebreaker
with VT. ME wins home ice, followed by Mass and then VT.
NU - 21 pts - to play 1 game w/BU - gives up tiebreaker to PC (via games
won). A win or tie clinches 7th place. Anything less than 2 PC wins also
clinches NU 7th place. NU has clinched entry to the tournament.
* Best finish - 7
* Worst finish - 8
PC - 17 pts - to play home & home w/MC - wins NU tiebreaker (via games
won), wins UML tiebreaker.
* Best finish - 7 - Exactly 2 PC wins and an NU loss.
* Worst finish - 9 - Needs 2 points to clinch 8th place and entry to
the tournament. Coasts into tournament unless UML earns 3 pts more
than PC.
UML - 15 pts - to play 2 games at VT - gives up PC tiebreaker.
* Best finish - 8 - Needs 3 pts more than PC to earn entry to the
tournament.
* Worst finish - 9
MC - 8 pts - to play home & home w/PC - cannot make HEA playoffs
* Best finish - 10
* Worst finish - 10
cheers, wayne
