Power plays: Michigan State 2 for 6
Western Michigan 0 for 3
State came out skating hard and had several good opportunities the first
5 minutes of the game. It then settled down into a defensive battle with
State taking command during the third period. Western had a few good
chances too, but Alban was solid in net. However, his clearing passes
were shaky at times and Western had some scoring opportunities as a
result. State was definitely a faster team and was able to take
advantage when they carried the puck into Western's zone. The winning
goal was a result of a 3 on 2 offensive play with a rifle shot by Bogas
just inside the blue line.
