PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 8
in the nation, according to the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine
Coaches Poll and the USCHO.com poll released on Monday, February 26, 2001.
The Friars, 19-8-5, posted a 2-0-0 record last week. On February
22, the Friars defeated UMass-Lowell, 4-3, at Tsongas Arena. On February
23, PC defeated UMass-Lowell, 2-1, at Schneider Arena. The Friars are 11
games over .500 for the first time since the 1990-91 season.
Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) is currently leading
the Friars in scoring with 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists). Sophomore
Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and senior Boyd Ballard
(Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the Friars’ goaltending duties. This
season, the duo have combined for a 2.44 goals against average and a .920
save percentage.
The Friars will return to action on Friday, March 2, at Maine's
Alfond Arena at 7:00 p.m.
