I'm not precisely sure why, but many athletes recruited by Colgate
sign letters of intent.  This is true of all sports, and in
everything but hockey Colgate competes in the Patriot League.
The Patriot [currently] has the same financial aid restrictions
as the Ivy League, so there does not appear to be anything fishy
with hockey players signing.
