Tuesday night Bowdoin faced 5th ranked Salem State and tried to keep
their playoff hopes alive. The result:
Bowdoin 2 1 0 - 3
@Salem St. 1 3 3 - 7
Third hand details of the game:
Bowdoin was on fire in the first, shocking Salem State at home by
taking a 2-0 lead midway through the period. Salem scored with about
1:30 left to cut the lead to 2-1.
Salem scored first in the second, tying the game at 2. Bowdoin
regained the lead before giving up two more goals to end the period
behind 4-3.
In the third period, Salem State woke up (for 2.5 minutes, at least).
Between 9:15 and 11:45 of the final period, Salem scored three times
to ice the game 7-3.
Bowdoin had 24 shots on goal; Salem State recorded 36. Bowdoin was 1
for 5 on the power play. Bowdoin drops to 8-10-2 (7-10-2 in ECAC III).
If Bowdoin wins its last two conference games, we will be in 8th
place; however, the ECAC III E tournament usually only takes teams
with above .500 conference records. The last time Bowdoin was
excluded from post-season play was the 1973-74 season. The last time
we had an overall record below .500 was the 1982-83 season (although
our conference record was above .500 and we were seeded 6th in the
ECAC III E playoffs).
Bowdoin's remaining games:
2/15 Conn. College (NLG)
2/16 Amherst (NLG)
2/20 @Colby
2/23 @St. Anselm
Thanks go to Matt ([log in to unmask]) for providing the details.
