Simple explanation: The puck never went in the net. Marty Fillion made a
next-to-impossible save. You have to see the replay to believe it.

This surprised me too - what does Munn hold?

Briefly, a couple of other notes:

I assume that an MSU'er or someone at the game will post a box, so I'll
hold off on that.

Dave Barazzino (who the play-by-play guy kept calling "Barzalino" - must
have seen The Godfather too many times) had his first career hat-trick.
This was the first hat-trick by a Lowell defenseman in Lowell's 13 year
Division I history. Dave's 13 goals also mark the highest goal total by a
defender in that same period.

While MSU obviously had the vast majority of fans on their side, it was
clear to me that there was a UML presence. (As opposed to the same game
two years ago when there might have been 10 UML fans there). The "UML!!
UML!!" and "Marty!! Marty!!" (for goaltender Fillion) cheers came through
on the telecast loud and clear! I imagine there were also a good number
of Michigan fans cheering for UML, and this long-time Lowell fans thanks
you.

The Lowell fourth line seemed to get a lot of ice-time, and I wonder if
Coach Crowder wasn't trying to rest his top troops for tonight's game vs.
CC. I'm sure the coaching staff had the Minn-UML game from two years ago
in the back of their mind's and wanted to prepare themselves for the
potential fatigue in tonight's game. The fact that Lowell took (once
again) took too many penalties didn't help this any.

If Lowell takes as many penalties tonight as they did last night, their
goose will be cooked. Lowell's short-handed play looked very good last
night (1 goal scored, at least two other breakaway chances) but man-down
situations against Colorado College will kill them.

See you in Cincy (whether Lowell's there or not).....
