Small Crowds of 2,231 and 2,449 respectively saw the Clarkson University
Golden Knights sweep the Brown Bears to move on to Lake Placid in the ECAC
Semi-final match on Friday. The Golden Knights will either play SLU (if it
beats Harvard in Game 3) or Cornell (if Harvard wins Game 3) on Friday evening.

All the information on this weekends games have been provided by CU SID
Gary Mikel:

Friday Night:

The Golden Knights started out with great intensity scoring just 35 seconds
into the game to give CU a 1-0 lead. However, the team seemed to lose a
great deal of desire after scoring so quickly and played lackluster hockey
the rest of the period. The only other goal of the period was also scored
by Clarkson's Jean-Francois Houle, his first of four goals on the night. Nick
Windsor scored Clarkson's first goal. Brown started the second period the same
way Clarkson started the game, with a goal just 38 seconds into the second
period to cut the lead to 1. However, CU's Houle responded about 7 minutes
later to give CU a 3-1, a lead they would never relinquish to Brown. Houle,
scored the other two Clarkson goals, and Adrian Smith added a short-handed
goal for Brown to make the final score 5-2. Houle had four goals, and Todd
White had three assists for Clarkson on the night. Dan Murphy stopped 27
shots, while his Brown counterpart Brian Audette stopped 38 CU shots. Both
teams were also 0-5 on the power play.

Saturday Night:

This game was a lot closer than the final score of 5-3 would tell. Clarkson
and Brown both played solid hockey for almost a good 15 minutes before CU's
Chris Lipsett scored a power-play goal to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead. Brown
came right back and 4 minutes later scored a 5 on 3 power play goal, by
Ryan Mulhern to tie the game up at 1 at the end of 1. The teams again played
tough in the second period with both teams scoring twice. Clarkson scored
first in the second period, another power-play goal, this time by Todd White.
For Todd that was his 27th goal of the season. Then Clarkson's Chris Clark,
who is more famous for his penalties, scored his 10th of the season to gie
Clarkson a 3-1 advantage. White's goal came at the 5:05 mark and Clark
scored just 27 seconds later. Not to be outdone, Brown's Bill McKay scored
a power-play goal at the midway point to make it 3-2, and then Paul Giblin
added one with just 45 seconds remaining in the period to make it a 3-3 tie
at the end of two. Both teams played with a great deal of intensity in
the third period with Clarkson finally breaking through at the 8:42 mark
, a goal by Todd White to give Clarkson the game-winning goal and a 4-3 lead.
Houle added an empty netter with just 17 seconds left to make sure that
CU would advance to Lake Placid and also to make the final score 5-3. Overall
a very good weekend of Hockey in Cheel.

I believe that Brown became tired late in the game as they played well for
most of the game, but seemed to get tired of late. Clarkson's four solid
lines helped them run down Brown, and in the end that was the difference in
the game.
