Actually not much more to report on the T-U story. In discussing it with Bob
Croce who was the author he apparently utilized sources within HE, rather than
anyone at RPI. He indicated that RPI would be the first choice for expansion
when HE goes to 10 teams. He also said that UVM would probably be #2, (again
consistent with the state team theory for expansion) but hadn't heard any
mutterings about a possible U Conn bid. The rest of the conversation was quite
enjoyable, but light on facts. Croce believes RPI is at a disadvantage in
recruiting because of its academic index, an index which includes only students
interested in math and science. With considerable hyperbole Croce added that
Cornell and Harvard had an easier time recruiting, since they could go after
the athletes who wanted to major in the English and the Social Sciences and
are thus precluded from matriculating at RPI.

All in all, file this rumor in the box of excuses if RPI doesn't win the
national championship, which the entire Capital District expects this year :-|
It would be nice if the media would just let the boys skate.
