BOSTON UNIVERSITY DOWNS MEN'S HOCKEY
Nationally-ranked Terriers defeat Engineers, 4-1

Junior Brad Zancanaro scored two goals, including the eventual game-winning
goal in the second period, as Boston University defeated Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-1, in a Division I men's hockey game at the
Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. With the victory, BU, which is ranked
14th in the nation, posted its third straight victory to improve to
10-6-0. The Engineers fall to 8-9-2.

Boston University held a 1-0 lead after dominating the first period,
outshooting the Engineers, 13-4. The Terriers jumped out to an early lead
when Zancanaro, a center, scored on his own rebound just 3:41 into the
first period. Zancanaro, who tallied from just outside the crease, earned
his fifth of the season with assists from Ryan Monaghan and Bryan
Miller. For Monaghan, a freshman, the assist was his first collegiate point.

Zancaro doubled BU's lead at 13:27 of the second period when he skated down
the slot, collected a pass from John Laliberte and scored past RPI
netminder Andrew Martin. The goal, which was also assisted on by Sean
Sullivan, was the sixth of the season for Zancaro.

The Terriers added two goals in the third period before Rensselaer got on
the board. Junior David Van der Gulik finished off a nice feed from
Laliberte at 6:28 and freshman Chris Bourque slammed home a Peter MacArthur
pass 3:20 later. The Engineers' Keith MCWilliams scored his fourth of the
year to make it 4-1 at the 11:54 mark.

John Curry finished with 26 saves, including 12 in the third period, to
improve to 8-3-0 on the season. Martin stopped 29 shots for Rensselaer and
is now 4-7-1 on the season.

Rensselaer is idle until January 1-2 when they will play a pair of
non-league games at Notre Dame. The Terriers will play next on December 29
when they host the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
