According to The Intercollegiate Hockey Newsletter "hottest rumor:
RPI re-thinking a jump to Hockey East -- this time in company with
UVM..? Said to be more attractive to the HEA folks, since it would
keep schedule even ..."

I checked, and this issue was not dated April 1. :-) There seems
to me to be several things wrong with this, but I will ask if
anyone else has heard this from other sources? I would understand
it if it were only Vermont that was considering jumping at this
time, but it is hard to figure why RPI would go through this
deliberation again, just one year after going through this process
last summer.

Furthermore, Buddy Powers is no longer at RPI, and he was the one
with the New England connection. [Ah, maybe BGSU will transfer
to the HEA. :-) ] I also got a chuckle about "more attractive to
the HEA folks, since it would keep schedule even." Last I heard,
the HEA had nine teams, and adding RPI and UVM would give it eleven
-- certainly not even. Also, from what I read on Hockey-L last
summer, the HEA would have taken RPI last year, just that RPI
changed its mind.

Perhaps RPI will go to the HEA, but Rensselaer will stay in the
ECAC. :-) (Not that the 'tute would have enough players to field
two teams.)
