There was the usual sellout crowd on hand for this rivalry, although not too
many students, as CC is still on break. This was the last trip to the
Broadmoor for me, as I'll be leaving in two weeks for the semester and it
will be torn down by the time I return. It was a good game to watch, most
of the action coming from the offenses of both teams and their goalies.
CC made a few defensive mistakes which allowed for some goals, but they held
out during the last 49 seconds to keep the game from being tied up after
Mullin had been pulled with 55 seconds remaining and DU scored once. One
interesting thing to note on CC's last goal is that Chad Remackel had been
called for a high-sticking penalty at 6:18 of the third, so he had only been
out of the box for 7 seconds when he scored. When I heard that at the game,
I wasn't sure if I had heard correctly, since at the end where we were sitting
you couldn't understand the announcer very well, and I knew he had just gotten
out. Tonight's rematch is in Denver at DU Arena. Details tonight or tomorrow.
