As we get more and more teams, both in college and pro ranks, I'm more
and more enamored of the system used in football (real football, not the
gladiator stuff on this continent) which call for multiple divisions with
relegation for the teams on the bottom and advancement for the top teams
in the lower divisions.  This makes for exciting end of season contests
where even one's status for the next year is on the line.  And there is
real movement, both ways.
 
I doubt we'll see this on the pro or college level here, but it does add a
dimension which rewards acheivement and provides consequences for
mediocrity.
