I was waiting to see someone else post this, since I've lost the exact
reference, but since no one has: I believe I saw in the paper last week
(I think in Friday's - 5/26/95 - USA Today) that:
The NC$$ repealed its restricted-earnings provision for assistant coaches
one day after it was struck down in court.

I believe it was a basketball assistant coach who challenged the income
restriction, which also applies to the second hockey assistant (i.e. teams
currently can have one unrestricted-earnings assistant and one
restricted-earnings.)

Since Bill Butters was Minnesota's restricted-earnings coach, it might
be that this case will change the hiring strategy for filling that
position. (Note that Woog had wanted to fill the position by the end
of May and we haven't heard anything yet...)
