The UMD Bulldogs kept playing hard after a disappointing loss Friday
night, and beat the Catamounts of the University of Vermont 4-2 in
Staurday's non-conference matchup at the Duluth Entertainment and
Convention Center. The Dogs, 0-6-1 in their previous 7 games, losing 4
of those by one goal, came out playing just as hard as they did Friday,
when Taras Lendzyk stopped the Cats for 59:59.4, and this time, they came
out on top. Joe Rybar had a goal and 2 assists as the Dogs picked up the
power play, after not getting a man-advantage goal on Friday, went 3 for
9 on the power play Saturday. UVM played the last half of the second period
and a good part of the third short handed, which gave the Dogs plenty of
time to work on the power play. What UVM didn't know, however was that
Erik and Paula Biever, and Pam Sweeney, all Gopher fans without a game
this weekend, came up to cheer on the Dogs. The Gopher fans are three
for three at the DECC this season, cheering the Gophers over the Dogs twice,
and now the Dogs over the Cats. It was good to see them this weekend,
especially now that they were cheering for the right team ;)

Next weekend, the Bulldogs travel to Saint Cloud State University, who
caught the Dogs in the standings this weekend, to try and keep this
winning streak alive.

One Bulldog (and Hobey Baker) side note: Chris Marinucci had an assist
and the eventual game winning goal Friday night as Denver beat Chicago
4-3 in the IHL.

Also, a correction from yesterday's boxscore, Anderson was the referee,
not Christensen.
