Clarkson buried St. Lawrence 8-4, tonight in Canton. The win was
Clarkson's third in a row at Appleton Arena and seventh in a row
overall against the Saints.

Clarkson scored first but SLU scored two goals and appeared to have
lots of momentum. Then Clarkson scored two quick goals of their
own and took a 3-2 lead; this all before 10 minutes had elapsed
in the first period. Clarkson took a 4-2 lead late in the first
and scored again in the second. The Golden Knights seemed to be
back on their heels to start the 3rd period and gave up a SLU
PPG.

The key point in the game was with the score 5-3. A SLU player ripped
a shot past Clarkson goalie Dan Murphy and off the post. From my
vantage point, it appeared to barely cross the plain of the goal
line (um, make that the plane of the goal line) but the officials
disagreed and play continued. Clarkson scored the backbreaking goal
on a mixup in front in which the puck richocheted off a SLU players
skate and into the net. Clarkson scored a pair of goals to make it
8-3 before the Saints scored a late 4-on-4 goal for the final
margin of victory.

There was a pseudo-brawl near the end of the game in which Clarkson
defenseman Jason Labarge was ejected... Knights forward Dave Seitz
had four assists and Kevin Murphy had a hat trick... SLU freshman
goalie Clint (?) Owen look shaky in the first period. His replacement,
Jon Bracco, gave up a pair of weak goals but also made several
excellent saves preventing double digits for Clarkson... Clarkson
definitely outplayed the Saints but got the benefit of a couple of
flukey goals and a few soft ones as well... the "highlight" of the
game was listening to the synthesizer which passed for SLU's answer
to the Clarkson Pep Band (which rocked the house, as usual). Whomever
the guy was, he knew only 3 or 4 songs that he repeated throughout
the game.

Box score tommorow (without penalty details).

Clarkson goes to 3-1-1 in the ECAC and I believe SLU drops to 1-4.

The two teams meet again next Saturday night in Potsdam.

Let's go Tech!
