The Golden Gophers shut out the Swiss national team 6 - 0 Wednesday night at
Mariucci arena. After a disjointed first period the Gophers got on track
scoring 3 in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd.

Goals from Clint Johnson, Charlie Waslie and Ryan Kraft in the 2nd. Goals by
Bonin, Waslie and Jesse "The Body" Bertogliat in the 3rd.

Wednesday's game was the debut for the much discussed Tom Nevers. Overall I'd
say Nevers was OK. He did some bad things but also did some good things. One
cool thing that comes to mind, in the 2nd period Bonin and Nevers broke in on
the Swiss zone 2 on 1. Bonin fed Nevers a perfect pass right on the right
doorstep of the goal but Nevers couldn't handle it. Oh well. Nevers did get an
assist on the 2nd goal.

Steve DeBus looked good in his shut out. He made some very nice saves
throughout the game. The Swiss team did have some good scoring opportunities,
but luck and DeBus' quick reflexes stopped the Swiss.

The Swiss team the Gophers played last night was nowhere near as good as the
Swedish team the Gophs played last year. They were classy guys, however,
shaking hands with the Minnesota players before the game and presenting them
with what appeared to be a small present wraped in tinfoil (chocolate maybe?).
