While I'm not aware of a particular situation of this happening in college
hockey, it did happen in pro basketball. The Boston Celtics retired Dave
Cowens's #18. Three other former owners of that number were worthy of
consideration, Bob Brannum, Bailey Howell, and Jim Loscutoff. To honor
Loscutoff, the Celtics raised "LOSCY" to the rafters.
