From Charley Walters' 4-5-98 column (St. Paul Pioneer Press):
"Add Alaska Anchorage, insiders say, to schools opposing admittance of
Mankato State and Nebraska-Omaha to the Western Collegiate Hockey
Association. Word is Nebraska-Omaha, which sold out an 8,314-seat arena
last season, could accept an invitation to the Central Collegiate Hockey
Association if WCHA discussions get testy. Contrary to several sources,
St. Cloud State says it would vote in favor of Mankato State and has no
stance on Nebraska-Omaha. North Dakota is said to oppose both. Three of
nine votes would block admittance."
