Just got done watching Michigan/UNH on espn2 (4-0 Michigan
for those who haven't heard). A few random thoughts:
-- Did I miss it, or has the Michigan band stopped playing
"Hail to the Victors" at every stoppage? I only heard it after goals
and at the beginning and end of periods.
-- Geez, I remember watching Marty Turco make spectacular
saves against Maine in the semifinals three years ago. Four national
semifinal appearences, two shutouts. But he did lose the other two.
-- It's always hard to tell these things, but Mike Noeth
seemed to do a pretty good job reffing for the first half of the game.
But he missed Filipowicz dumping "Bubbenzweig" (as the espn2
announcers kept calling him). And I can't believe he only called one
set of matching minors plus a misconduct for the melee in front of the
UNH bench. Not that Michigan really needed another power play with
about a minute to go.
-- Okay, was I on drugs, or did I actually hear a "We want
Weder" chant with Michigan up 3-0 in the second. Did the Wolverine
fans learn that from road-tripping Cornellians as well?
Coming up tonight: the cinderella team vs the home town
favorite.
