As indicated elsewhere, Glavine played for Billerica, Mass. high school, was
offered but did not take the hockey scholarship to Lowell, and was drafted in
1984 in the fourth round by the LA Kings, who were apparently unaware that he
was a lock to sign a baseball contract with Atlanta.
