Mallen is lucky to have a recruiter on his staff who I think is very
capable of landing those quality players - Scott McPherson. When
McPherson was at Merrimack for just one year, he brought in three
players who have proven to be key to MC thus far - goalie Martin
Legault, D John Jakopin, and F Claudio Peca. If McPherson can work his
magic for the Minutemen, that combined with their excellent on-ice
coaching should lead to steady and quick improvement for UMA in the
upcoming seasons.

It's nice to hear accolades about Scott. I've never met the man, but
always got the impression from interviews (spoken and written) that he was
a class act. I felt bad that he got stuck playing with bad teams for 3 of
his 4 years at Lowell, but I always felt he could have put some tremendous
numbers if he was given a better supporting cast. (See the numbers he put
up his Frosh year playing with the Jon Morris-led Chiefs).
Everybody seems to speak very highly of him as a coach and it would be
great to see him end up as the main man behind the bench at a Division 1
school someday.
A bit of Scott McPherson trivia: It was Scott who did the skating scenes
(from the waist down) for Rob Lowe in the movie "Youngblood".
