Actually, this game was very similar to Friday's contest. Lake Superior
came out roaring in the first (19 shots in goal) but were shut down
in the third (first shot 15 minutes into the period). But the difference
was that Bowling Green could not put the puck in the net: 1/9 on the
power play, 2 pipes, several missed open nets and many missed half-open
nets.
Bob Petrie was hurt (knee or groin pull--two different reports) near the
end of the first period. No idea if he'll be able to play against Michigan
on Tuesday.
Paul Sass got the win for LSSU. He was not spectacular, but certainly better
than Lacher was last night.
BG finishes 2-1 versus LSSU in the regular season. Not bad, considering
that the Falcons had gone 0-12-1 in their last 13 games against the Soo.
Bowling Green remains in 4th in the league, since Miami swept Western Michigan
(5-2 tonight). Also, UIC beat Kent 6-3. Notre Dame and OSU were tied at 3
in OT last I heard (Bucks were ahead 3-1 with 10:00 to go).
