Here are the national awards as voted on by Hockey-L members.
Each 1st place vote was worth 3 points; 2nd place votes were 2
points and 3rd place votes were 1 point. I will list the winner
and the top 2 runners up in the first section. In () will be the
number of first place votes followed by the number of total pts.
After that, I will list the total voting points. Not everyone voted
for the top 3 so the total number of 2nd and 3rd place votes may not
necesarily equal the number of votes cast. Also, not everyone cast
votes for all categories.
GENERAL COMMENTS: Voting picked up big time upon the posting of a list
of top candidates. I thank Wayne for the idea. Voting for goalie of the
year was very tight with 8 different goalies getting #1 votes. In fact,
one late ballot (not after the deadline though) put the winner over the top.
Fortunately, hockey-L voters were pretty reasonable in their voting. I only
had to throw out one ballot (the person voted for Tim Carvel as #2 goalie
in the nation...Carvel is RPI's THIRD string goalie and Wayne Clarke as
the #3 goalie in the nation. Clarke is an RPI FORWARD).
