Ok, thanks for the replies.
My first exposure was at Clarkson in 65-66. The visiting goalie only got
the cheer in the 2nd period, since there were no seats in the east end of
the old Clarkson Arena.
Also, the goalie in the east end could not see the clock (which counted
up) unless he skated out halfway to the blue line and looked back, since
the east end was in what looked like a shed-roof extension to the original
arena structure.
Another note: one of my friends, who was an intramural goalie, tried to
stop people from chanting "Sieve" when Ken Dryden was in goal (not that we
had that many chances).
