PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Providence College men’s hockey team is ranked No. 9
in the nation, according to the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine
Coaches Poll and the USCHO.com poll released on Monday, February 12, 2001.
The Friars, 16-8-4, posted a 1-1-0 record last week. On February
9, the Friars defeated then top-ranked Boston College, 5-3, at Schneider
Arena. On February 10, PC was defeated by then ninth-ranked New Hampshire
3-1, at the Whittemore Center.
Sophomore Devin Rask (Parkside, Saskatchewan) is currently leading
the Friars in scoring with 37 points (16 goals, 21 assists). Sophomore
Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan) and senior Boyd Ballard
(Weyburn, Saskatchewan) have shared the Friars’ goaltending duties. This
season, the duo have combined for a 2.37 goals against average and a .922
save percentage.
The Friars will return to action Friday, February 16, versus
Boston University at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
