A news article in the Albany Times Union this morning
states that the ECAC is very close to reaching a new deal
with the Olympic Regional Development Authority which would
keep the ECAC tournament in Lake Placid for (probably) another three
years.
ECAC Commissioner Jeff Fanter is quoted as saying "I think
it's very likely the re-signing with Lake Placid will end up happening.
We feel that Lake Placid has opened their arms to us and made this its home.
It's 85 to 90 percent. I would feel comfortable saying that. We
still need to cross the T's and dot the I's".
As an ECAC and college hockey fan, my only comment is "NUTS".
I feel as if the proper place for this tournament is near the geometric
center of the conference which is Albany in an arena and an area
that can handle a larger crowd. But then again, no-one asked me.
