Summary:

Colgate completed a weekend sweep with a 2-1 win over Union on
Saturday night. For the second straight night Union outshot an
opponent only to come up short on the scoreboard. This time it was
Colgate's Matt Weder who stopped 39 of 40 Dutchmen shots to win it for
the Red Raiders. Once again, Union Coach Bruce Delventhal was
satisfied with the effort of his team. He only had good things to say
after the game which extended Union's winless streak to 8 games.

Colgate took a 1-0 lead in the first with a power play goal and
extended that lead to 2-0 early in the third. Union finally got on
the board with under 90 seconds left in the game and goalie Luigi
Villa on the bench for the extra skater, but it was too little too
late. The Dutchmen never broke into the zone again after that goal.
The goal did break a scoreless streak of almost 4 periods. Union also
spent lots of time on the power play - they had seven in the game -
but were unable to score. Union has not scored on a power play in a
league game since the Harvard game on Nov. 26. They're 0 for 28 since
then.

Union is now 1-5-2 in the league and 4-8-2 overall. They will need to
get the scoring going again if they want to play with RPI next Friday
night at Achilles.
