The documentary that Ken Burns is working on for the sport of Hockey is a great
idea. I just hope he isnt as inaccurate on hockey as he allegedly was in the
'National Pasttime". ESPN's Keith Olbermann (That fine hunk of journalistic
machismo so he thinks) has been disputing several of the claims made in the
documentary on baseball. What we have here is a war of words building with a
person who has researched the game extensively and conducted many interviews
over a period of 2-3 years and a person who's grown up with the game all his
life and probably played it for a while and happens to know some things the
other doesnt.

Who is Olbermann to play the role of history proffessor anyway?

If there are some inaccuracies, fine, so be it, but to constantly bombard the
viewing audience with these corrections gives people the idea that Keith is
trying to outshow everyone on just who is the baseball expert.

I appreciate the effort Burns is doing to create the documentary on hockey.
When he created the Civil War series, interest in the Civil War peaked at new
and intense levels. Our awareness of the War became clearer. Perhaps Ken
Burns can do the same for the fastest sport there is, next to auto racing.
Maybe then people will become aware as to just how great a sport hockey is.

The series on baseball couldnt have picked a better time, what with the strike
and all. Maybe the Hockey documentary should have come along at about this
time too, since it appears that the NHL isnt going to start on time.

However, if Keith Olbermann even thinks about disputing Burns about any hockey
(a sport Im sure Keith could care less of) Im going to encourage tons of hate
mail his way.

Thats all from me...take care to one and all...Go Maine!!!!
