I've seen a lot of posts saying, loosely paraphrased: "Hell, get on with the HE playoffs, if BU can't beat
Maine at home, then they don't deserve to go to the show."
Is this true? Um, not necessarily. BU will be known as overrated, etc. etc., but it seems to me that BU's
a virtual lock for an NCAA seed.
The NCAA uses a selection formula similar to RPICH (as I remember from the MSU-NMU
pseudo-controversy from last year). This week's ratings:
___________*
HOCKEY-L TCHCR RPICH CHODR
Team Record Rank Rank Rank Rank
Boston University 28-6 1 1 1 1
Michigan 29-6-1 2 2 2 2
Lake Superior 24-9-4 3 6 10 3
Harvard 19-4-4 4 8 3 4
Colorado College 22-9-5 5 3 9 15

So unless there are some big upsets in the tournaments (say, hot Miami, St. Cloud, Clarkson, BC pulling
out some Beanpot/Garden magic), BU's chances of missing the tournament seem slim. I wouldn't think
two losses would allow BU to fall THAT far out of favor.
Hey, I'm not saying this weekend's games don't mean anything. Just that all BU really stands to lose is
pride. Then again, that's a lot to lose in itself.
Right?
