Possible candidates for the "Not Very Nice" Awards?:

Gee, I thought Gopher fans only hated Wisconsin (and more recently,
Northern Michigan)!

Hey Martin, Erik's been a lot more positive, while staying true to
his team, than this! In fact he and I just made a pact to support
WCHA teams when they're not playing each other. (I suppose if LSSU
gets by UAA I'll have a moral dilemma--given my earlier-joined pact
with Bob Gilreath re U.P. teams! :-). )

Although I think the seedings for this year, especially in the West
where I feel more comfortable having an opinion on them, are quite
reasonable, I agree with Larry that appearances mean an awful lot,
no matter how properly behaved the principal characters actually
are. In fact, I suspect that Rick Comley would have preferred not
to be in the position he was this year, from a remark or two he
made recently. (Maybe my feelings come from my being a university
administrator and having many years of dealing with faculty sensi-
tivities concerning appearances and process.)
