PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College sophomore goaltender Nolan
Schaefer of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan was named HOCKEY EAST Defensive
Player of the Week on Monday, October 30. It marked the first time in his
career that Schaefer has earned HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week
honors.
Schaefer received his Defensive Player of the Week honor for his 8-0
shutout win over Union College on October 29. Schaefer turned away all 35
shots he faced for his first career shutout.
In two games this season, Schaefer has posted a 2-0-0 record, 0.50 goals
against average and a .984 save percentage.
Schaefer is the son of Peter and Tracy Schaefer. Prior to attending
Providence, he played for the Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL.
Providence, 3-0-1, will return to action on Friday, November 3 against
Maine at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
