The simplest solution is one that most people don't want: fewer conference
games.
Either that or start making some travel weekends longer. Playing more
friday-sunday combos for example, to accomodate a pair of teams on a
weekend that may not be conveniently close to each other (such as NoDak on
Friday, Minnesota or Wisconsin on Sunday)
Furthermore, as much as travel can be a hassle and an expense it should not
be an excuse for a scheduling system that doesn't make sense.
