Hi all, I wanted to offer some thoughts I mailed to Glen K. earlier today.
Assuming NMU/TECH go to the CCHA, having UAF move to the WCHA would be a good
move for them and the league. It would offer the chance for the two Alaska
teams to play more often. Also, the idea of travel buddies come to mind. By
that I mean two teams traveling together for weekend series, or consecutive
weekend series, to offset costs of traveling alone. Say Wisconsin and
Minnesota travel to Alaska, playing UAA one weekend, and UAF the next. Then
the Alaska teams traveling together to do the same. I know Wisconsin used to
travel to Colorado and play CC/Denver in the same manner.
Reviving Big Ten hockey, and then have one of those teams enter the WCHA is
an interesting thought. Maybe Penn State and/or Illinois? Having the
opportunity to play the other Big 10 teams, especially Michigan/Michigan
State, more during the season would be great! Perhaps the College Hockey
Showcase would develop into a true Big 10 tournament.
What does everybody think?
Yours,
Terry E. Tuschen Jr.
