As Rich Delano has aleardy reported, Mike Milbury this morning announced
his resignation, effective immediately, as head hockey coach at Boston
College. In a press conference carried just moments ago on WEEI radio,
Milbury made clear he resigned over what he called "philosophical differences"
with the BC administration over the running of the program.
Milbury also said he met with BC athletic director Chet Gladchuk yesterday,
and said that there were "very serious differences" that he "didn't think
were capable of being resolved." Milbury refused comment on any specifics,
although and he and his attorney wanted to emphasize the "differences" in
question related to contract negotiations of a *non-financial* nature.
Milbury admitted that his concerns were not deep early on, but that they
developed over the last two months through an "evolutionary process."
Milbury also said he doesn't think he'll take another college coaching job;
he said BC is the only college program he'd ever considered coaching.
In emphasizing that this was not a financial issue, Milbury said he has
"not received a check from BC, and that the two months I gave are two months
BC can have." Milbury also stated that although he is "confused and d
disappointed," he also said BC is "much better served that we both part company
now."

Asked about his future plans, all Milbury would say is that he'll take some
time off. He did not consider returning to the Bruins a viable option at this
point. He says he has no immediate plans and would not comment on any neg
possible negotiations with other NHL teams.
